THE LAMENT OF THE CAPRICIOUS FEET (A FRIVOLITY)

I have worn many shoes….

Each had their own style,

Quality,

And elements of novelty.

Some were like best friends.

In others, however,

I took simple occupancy.

If you don’t wear them out

Before their time, I’ve noticed

They’ll simply fall away.

It tends to be my favorites

That have the shortest stay,

And chafe my toes and ankles

In times of vigorous play….

Yes,

My feet have been searching

For some new companions

To penetrate and bend into shape

-Ones that will caress my rough skin

With their tongues and hold with

Vehement affectation

The necks of my capricious feet.

With so many styles to choose from,

It seems I’ll never get what I need,

What I need

Maybe barefoot for a little while

Wouldn’t be such a bad idea…

But bare feet tend to bleed.
